The work of Barbara & Michael Leisgen counts among the most significant contemporary contributions to conceptual photography and to the exploration of the relationship between humans and landscape. This exhibition presents heretofore unreleased works from the Pink Depression series, realized in the 1980s, at a time when issues such as forest die-back and environmental pollution first rose to major political prominence. The photos’ visual language, shifting between tragedy and absurdity, remains strikingly relevant today.
