Aline Bouvy

* 1974 in Belgium

Lives and works in Brussels.

ALINE BOUVY is a multidisciplinary visual artist. She studied at the ERG (Graphic Research School) in Brussels from 1995 to 1999, and at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht from 1999 to 2001, then moved to Berlin and London, before returning to Brussels where she lives today. She claims a certain unknown freedom in relation to the norms that unconsciously model our desires and dictate what is morally and aesthetically acceptable. From this perspective, she tries not to place herself at the margins of society, but rather to integrate into her creative process these elements that are considered "dirty" or aesthetically "ugly" from a moral point of view, in order to free herself from any categorization. Without being provocative, she makes it her mission to show the crude and outdated side of this waste.
