IKOB cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibitions "Embrace" with Johan Tahon and "Redrawing the lines" with Matei Bejenaru, Irina Botea Bucan and Dani Ghercă.

We start at 14:30 with a guided tour of "Redrawing the lines" and offer a director's tour of Johan Tahon's exhibition at 15:00. We look forward to welcoming many visitors!

About the exhibitions:

Johan Tahon was born in Menen/Menin in 1965. He lives and works in Oudenaarde (Belgium). He studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, and is recognized as one of the most important Belgian artists of his generation. Together with the artist, we decided to give him permission to alter his own work. Tahon’s modified work therefore is the center of “Umarmung,” and marks the beginning of an unprecedented dialogue between artists and museums about adjustments to their works. The reinterpreted work is accompanied by newer pieces by the artist, as well as older ones from the IKOB collection.

“Redrawing the Lines” presents works by Romanian artists Matei Bejenaru, Irina Botea Bucan and Dani Ghercă that touch upon global and unabating societal matters by reflecting on their country’s recent history. Geopolitical borders, nationalism, economics, inequity, the individual and the collective, immigration, periphery and power relations are some of the issues addressed in the group exhibition through humourous and critical approaches. “Redrawing the Lines” is curated by Daniella Géo and organized in collaboration with SwitchLab, Bucharest.
